The company is aware of the negative impacts of plastics on the environment and biodiversity as a result of littering and insufficient rubbish collection and recycling infrastructure in many regions. However, giving up plastics is not a solution. Plastics make a valuable contribution to modern life, and replacing them with alternative materials would increase adverse environmental impacts in several key areas.

Our goal is to optimize the use of non-renewable natural resources, energy and water, to reduce the use of hazardous chemicals and to encourage our supply chain to do the same.

Light weight for carbonated beverages

Material reduction: Carbonated beverages PCO 1810 to 26 mm CSD GME 30.40

BERICAP has been focusing on optimising material usage since 2007. Through partnerships with bottle producers, BERICAP has been able to achieve weight savings of up to 50% (example PCO 1810-> PET 26/22 neck)

Eco Design:
100% silicone-free BERICAP Valves

Our BERICAP Valve is made of environmentally clean TPE which is safely separated with polyolefins in the PET recycling stream and 100% silicon-free. Our valve technology is available for standard as well as specific flip-top closures and necks and applicable to all squeezable products.

In the recycling process, our valves made of TPE swim in water and offer perfect separation possibilities. Thus contamination of the recycling stream can be avoided.

BERICAP is continually optimising its production processes to ensure that operations run as efficiently as possible. Through energy in new machinery and technologies, as well as monitoring all systems, BERICAP continues to reduce the energy usage in its sites, and consequently the carbon footprint of its products.

Sustainability Initiatives

As a signee of the European Circular Plastics Alliance declaration, BERICAP supports the establishment of a recycling loop for bottles and closures in order to prevent plastics from ending up in oceans and natural habitats. The company leads the industry’s developments to tethered caps which remain firmly attached to the bottle after opening and during use and thus comply with the EU Directive 2019/904 which will come into force as of Jul 2024. The use of these caps protects the environment by recycling them together with the bottles and avoiding pollution from loose caps.

Health & Safety Culture

Health and Safety is a key focus of BERICAP’s operational excellence strategy. It is a confirmation of the efforts spent so far and motivation for the future, that BERICAP UK Ltd was recently honored by Make UK, The UK Manufacturers' Organisation, with the Make UK national Health & Safety Award. The implementation of a positive health and safety culture by providing all employees with the knowledge that no task should be carried out if they perceive risk to their personal health, safety or that of their colleagues throughout their company was recognized.
