GlaxoSmithKline, the United Kingdom leading company in energy drinks has successfully switched from glass to plastic packaging and developed with BERICAP, among others, a two piece plastic closure on the segment of syrup/concentrate to fit on PVC and PET neck finishes.
The aim of GlaxoSmithKline was to reduce the weight of its packaging: about five time more glass is required to make a pack than plastic. The plastic closure itself (diameter 32/25) must always bring the features demanded by such a product in terms of tightness (internal boreseal), consumer comfort (non-drip closure and flow regulation), safety (tear-off membrane).

The external shape was designed for aesthetic and convenience: the knurls are made for a good handling which will help when turning and tearing off the aluminium covering the upper part of the bottle on first opening.
